Originally ABI formed in 2005 in Port Washington, New York and burst on the scene with two albums under the name Eye of the Storm. Their second album was received with critical acclaim as Absolutepunk.net advocated that “Boundless” is worthy of album of the year and reported: “these guys could be the next big thing.” After forming the band six years ago when they were just twelve years old, the band has honed their craft by performing at such prestigious venues as Santos Party House in New York City and The Crazy Donkey on Long Island. “You never get tired of hearing the audience yell ‘one more, one more’ after we finish our show” says Justin Volpe, lead singer. Since many record executives and several industry professionals suggested renaming the band, All But Impossible decided to introduce a new brand with a slightly new direction in their heavy metal genre. Cody Ryan, lead guitarist, explains “We all wanted to widen our appeal without compromising the technicality of our music.” “We really reached our goal of writing music for a broader audience, yet we still were able to cling to our metal roots.” boasts drummer, Jon Scott. The newly released album Windfall is an eclectic combination of progressive metal music and soothing mainstream melodies with everything in between. “It is important to us that there is something for everyone to listen to and enjoy. Whether you're a diehard metal head or an avid top 40 listener, there is something for you” says Volpe. ABI selected Chris Clancy, who hails from the United Kingdom and is known as the lead singer for progressive metal band Mutiny Within, to mix and master the album. Chris has said “working with a singer I like has made this project even more enjoyable for me.” The band worked extremely hard to marry the traditional metal sound with ballads, choirs, orchestras, flutes, and congas to create a mainstream flavor that has never been heard before. Freedom Ahead sets the tone early as a metal song with a great groove. It’s quite a timely release and extremely relevant song, as many of the countries around the world are struggling to be freed from oppression. For more hard hitting metal, Still Constricted will consume the listener as the plea to be released from being in a free society hits the soul and mind. Many younger people struggle with growing into their own person and separating from their childhood rearing. The Shine proudly deals with this issue while Open Ends and Frayed Out Ends are a two part story that follow a man on his quest to find his meaning in his life. “There is something for everyone on this album” explains bassist Elard Timana. “We try and keep a distinct sound while finding a way to relate to anyone listening.” Currently, ABI is working to put together a summer tour and getting Windfall out to the world.
