The recording of this double CD was made possible by a grant from FONCA (National Foundation for the Arts and Culture of México), which I was very fortunate to receive after my proposal was selected among many others. I am a Mexican pianist, residing in Chicago. I founded the Chicago Panamerican Ensemble. Our website is: www.chicagopanamericanensemble.com This project started as a family affair (My husband Andrew Snow, is a cellist, my daughter Elena Snow is a mezzo soprano and my son Alan Snow is a violinist. During the research and study of music by composers of México, I came across many wonderful works featuring different instruments (and voice) with piano, and I decided to include works for viola, clarinet and flute. I had the great fortune to work with a great group of musicians that believed in this project. To the works for voice, cello and violin that I was originally planning on recording, I added some works for viola, flute and clarinet (Janice MacDonald, flute; Wagner Campos, clarinet: Karl Davies, viola) to give a broader view of the great chamber music repertoire that Mexico has produced,. This is a preliminary sample of the music of only a handful of composers, since there is an immense amount of literature that should be heard and performed. I am grateful to have had the chance to contribute in some way to this endeavor.
