It's a real premiere: Yehudi Menuhin's contribution to the 1958 Aldeburgh Festival of Music and the Arts at Blythburgh Church has never been available in digital form before, although the performance - accompanied by the Festival Orchestra conducted by Benjamin Britten - is remarkable. Together with Swiss flutist Aurele Nicolet Menhuin presents a concert of choice works by Mozart, Schumann, Haydn, Telemann and Vivaldi. While Mozart Concerto features Nicolet as soloist, the Haydn Concert features Menuhin as concert master of the orchestra while Nicolet joins the orchestra as flutist. The Telemann Concerto presents both artists as equal partners while Schumann and Vivaldi feature Menuhin as soloist. An atmospheric life recording that until today has a thrilling impact on the listener and an enrichment to the discography of Yehudi Menuhin.
