With pulsating synths, aggressive drumbeats, and heavy bass lines, the Underneath EP provides an eclectic compilation of tracks with each possessing their own easily discernible identity that manages to maintain a clear sense of fluidity. Kaia Young, the brains and talent behind The Luna Sequence combines insistent, fast-paced drumbeats with fervent synth parts that lend themselves to a plasticity not often found in a debut. Though the tempo and tone of each track are unique, they are all bound with the ubiquitously commanding pulse of the drum pad. From the rapidity of "Before the Skies Were Missing" and "The Static Dream" to the darker, slightly measured cadence of tracks like "Parasite" and "Beside Still Waters," the vehement drums provide the common denominator throughout the EP. Heavy distorted guitar parts reign throughout "Save Me," closing out the release on a distinctive note and attesting to The Luna Sequence's range of abilities. Though only an underground sensation for the time being, Young's skill set showcased throughout Underneath is an indication of widespread success in the future for The Luna Sequence.
