NOTES ON THE ARTIST TAKEN FROM THE BOOK "BILLBOARD HOT 100" AND FROM "THE NEW YORK TIMES": Leslie Pearl is one of the rare classical artists whose career crosses over into the pop song and jingle world. Aside from her work as a performing harpsichordist, she has penned network commercial jingles for Ford, Pepsi, Revlon, Gillette, and has written one of the longest running jingles, “The Best Part of Wakin’ Up” for Folgers Coffee. She has composed songs for recording artists including Crystal Gayle, Jessica Simpson, Aretha Franklin, and Travis Tritt, among others. Her further works in the pop field include music for TV shows, VHI Behind The Music, Saturday Night Live and Law and Order. She has composed music for films in both the classical and pop genre. Her own effort as a singer songwriter on the RCA label was rewarded with the top 10 hit “If The Love Fits Wear It”. Leslie has returned to her roots as a classical harpsichordist to make this CD for children. The following is a message from Leslie: Of all the projects I’ve done as a musician, I think the most rewarding has been my work teaching young children. I am forever amazed at how much life and self assurance a child takes on as he or she learns a musical instrument. Scientific research has shown that children who study an instrument not only gain confidence, but also do better at reading, math and science. I have made this CD with the hope that it will encourage kids to take up a musical instrument - the violin, the cello, the flute - instruments that were once only used in classical music, but are now in demand in Pop, Rock and Hip Hop.
