简介

This is the story of a teenage boy named Ronnie Stumps, who finds love at first sight and "hears the church bells ring" in the midst of a party that isn't really his style. Enamored, he chases after the girl he sees and serenades her about how they were "meant to be" and that they are "one true pairing," until the song's happy ending comes along and he gets the girl and all is well. Until the next morning, that is, when Ronnie decides to promptly sneak out the girl's window to his brother's car after spending the night with her, never intending to see her again, and not even remembering her name. His plan is foiled, however, when the girl, Lily Corleona, wakes up and starts yelling at him, prompting her father to rush into the room brandishing a gun. Ronnie tries to make his escape, yet the father continues to pursue him along with a whole entourage of trigger-happy thugs, leaving his brother dead and him permanently run out of town. All seems lost for Ronnie, until a new figure drives up besides him, a rich man by the name of Alastair Von Pauer. Alastair informs Ronnie that the girl's father is one of the biggest crime bosses in the area, and also Alastair's mortal enemy. Alastair then gives Ronnie an offer he can't refuse by asking him to join the Von Pauer crime family and get revenge on the Corleona family. After much longing to go back to the life he left behind, Ronnie ends up deciding to move on and join the Von Pauer family in their affairs. What ensues next is a twisted fall from grace as Ronnie embarks on a life of crime, dealing with murders, drugs, and illicit gambling. His realization of what he's become tears at him physically and psychologically, driving him to the point of madness. His evil ways catch up to him on one particular night as he arrives at a night club with his pals to find Lily Corleona performing on the stage. She sings about how the only reason she had ever gotten with Ronnie in the first place was because he was such a loser and she pitied him. Hurt by her words, Ronnie steps outside to smoke when a car drives up behind him. A man steps out, runs up next to him, pulls out a gun, and fires a round into Ronnie's chest. Ronnie plunges into the throes of death, passing through the five stages of grief as he first regrets everything he's done, and then turns to lash out in anger that it's all over, just like that. Yet he is given a second chance by an ethereal figure simply known as his Judicator, who says that he can right his wrongs if he can sing a new song to undo his "original sin," that of wooing over Lily with a meaningless and fallacious pop song, and warning others away from those who might sing such songs. Ronnie does so, and believes he has redeemed himself and is about to pass on to the next life, only to wake up in a hospital bed, temporarily paralyzed and hearing the church bells ring from across the street. As Ronnie matures and grows, so does the album's music. Starting off with a bland electronic pop song, the album goes on to touch on genres such as experimental rap, hard rock, prog rock, symphonic, lounge, MIDI, acoustic, and many in between.
