I began recording this album on what turned out to be a string of the coldest four days of the year, and finished in a week of the hottest. As my attic is unheated and uncooled, this is a noteworthy fact…When I first began playing my music in public I was plagued by intense stage fright. This carried over into the studio, so I decided to buy some basic recording equipment. I wanted to hear what I would sound like if no one was listening. ‘The Road Home’ is the result. I recorded the vast majority of the tracks alone in my attic between February and August of last year. As a result, unavoidable house noises, baby sparrows from the nest outside the window, and crickets from the deepest part of the night make appearances. I was also aided along the way by (human) friends and fellow musicians. My gratitude to them, and to you for listening.
