简介
sarah and kate define a torch song as one that's meaning and purpose, in it's many interpretations, has continued to inspire change within the world as it evolves. songs that have sustained generations. songs that have found a unifying voice for the sometimes voiceless. they yearn to share these songs, learned and crafted with youthful and aggressive abandon, with every known rock and specimen. through music, laughter, witty banter and true, honest humanism sarah and kate hope to do their part to fuel the revolution. this cd is a collection of sarah and kate's most recent collaborations and was released in conjunction with the launch of their 2005 torch song evolution tour. the songs range themes of raw emotional vulnerability, self discovery, love and passion for social change. ---------- {about sarah} "Sarah is a part of the next generation of conscientious artists knocking on your door. Give her a listen and a chance to be heard." -Holly Near Sarah has performed with national touring acts such as B**ch, Edie Carey, Bora Yoon, Kate Peterson, Mary Lou Lord and Tesla (ok so she was in the audience but she was singing the loudest and made some quality eye contact with the band making her think they really enjoyed her harmonies. They did throw a drum stick at her so they must have liked it.) With her unique quirkiness and interesting life experiences, Sarah engages audiences with the spirit of her performances, bursting with fiery lyrics and personal angst. She's not just another girl with a guitar, but a woman with intelligent words to share and a perspective on life that's thoughtful and compassionate. By incorporating the personal in the political, Sarah uses her music as a platform to promote social and political change. Sarah's performance carrier includes various parts of the country and the world including India, Thailand, the Philippines, N. Carolina, Colorado, Michigan, Boston, Philly, Atlanta, and New York. Her debut release, From Where I Stand, is distributed by Goldenrod Music. ----- {about kate} "I adore kate petrson and her mellifluous, aching gravelly voice. Kate transforms, nonchalantly, mundane stories into strummingly sensual, powerful songs. They make my heart skip a beat every time." - progressive queer artist-activist alix olson kate peterson creates pleasantly aggressive folk music that you can rock to, cry to or just plain smile to. she's nice! and when you see her play, it's more than obvious that she sings from her heart and the worn spot on her guitar shows that she plays from there too... kate has shared stages with many-a-talented performers including Toshi Reagon, Alix Olson, The Butchies, Pamela Means, Ellis, Edie Carey, Sarah Cleaver, Rose Polenzani, Tami Hart and more. She's criss-crossed the country from ladyfest to ladyfest in support of her first album, More to Me and is now preparing to hit the road with her second independent release, to be distributed by Goldenrod Music, due out in January '05.
