This song was written to show that a woman can take care of herself. It's good to have a partner, but not to be so dependent on a partner that one settles for someone who is flashy but doesn't treat his woman so well. When a woman can stand on her own two feet, she can be free to pick a partner that can treat her right no matter the income.
