One of the founders of Mesmerize Musique, Babi, finally debut on the label with an Ep of two tracks completed by nothing less than 3 remixes from UGLH. Downtown L.A. has a simple but effective groove, a instant recognizable vocal snippet and a synthetic bassline... the interplay between all those elements create a very distinctive sound. The remix treatment comes from Marco Duranti aka UGLH: no introduction needed for this artist! You should already know his typical deep and punchy sound from tracks released on labels such Plastic City, 8Bit, Bla Bla to name but a few. He reworked Downtown L.A. in two different moods, the first one is a 90's inspired remix with a prominent bass, a skippy groove and a clever use of the original vocal and synth parts. The String Remix is more twisted , with intricate drum percussion layered over a solid groove and a menacing string part rising in the breaks...the Dub Remix follows the same path but without the strings, for an even more dark result! Last but not least there is the other original from Babi, Vision. Like Downtown L.A. the arrangement is subtle with all the elements well placed, the most noticeable the powerful bassline, a sure floor banger
