简介
This is an contemporary folk song, sounding very much like the classic folks sung by the Brothers Four way back in the sixties. The story of this song is based on an ancient Chinese poem by Bai Juyi called "Swallow". It tells about a natural phenomenon in the birds' world: The mother bird raise up her chicks, teach them how to fly, and off they fly away, never to return home. Besides the traditional viewpoint of the mother bird as seen by the ancient poet, I have tried to add more depth to this story by including also a viewpoint from the baby birds to give a more contemporary feel to this story. Hope this will bring more light to this subject. I have recorded this song with the primitive equipment in my home studio. And as the acoustic guitar is the only musical instrument I can play, this becomes the only musical accompaniment of this song. It just reminds me of the good old days when we used to gather together in the classroom playing the guitar and singing along.
