简介
"now go to a very high place..." ~ David Howard "As a teacher I am always looking for pointe music as most of the tempos on ballet technique class CDs are too slow. These are perfect. Energy is so important when buying ballet music, and these, in my opinion, are some of the best available." ~ Stephanie Lawton, Dancer Magazine "Each morning, I rush over (and some days I actually make it) to David Howard's studio to be part of the experience of David's teaching together with Doug Corbin's music. I have always wished I could take them with me on location: now with these new albums I can take them along wherever I go." ~ Mary Tyler Moore Now available in MP3 format, legendary dance teacher David Howard has collaborated with Record Producer Franc Peri in creating over 100 CDs of ballet music for barre and center floor for elementary, intermediate and advanced dancers. In the late 80's, Rebekah Harkness, philanthropist and founder of the Harkness Ballet, facilitated an introduction between David Howard and Franc Peri. Thus began a collaboration that has resulted in their ballet CDs being used by dance teachers throughout the world. David Howard was one of the most sought-after ballet teachers in the United States and abroad. His list of disciples included Gelsey Kirland, Mikhail Baryshnikov, and Patricia McBride. He also worked with several performers in Broadway musicals and was equally comfortable working with young and aspiring dancers as well as adult beginners. David Howard, born in London, was a former soloist with the Royal Ballet and had lived and worked primarily in New York City since 1976. His particular approach to teaching involved a kinesthetic intent where a dancer is taught to rely less on external feedback from the mirror and to a more internal intent for body placement. He was once quoted that "out of the feeling comes the form." David Howard passed away at the age of 76 on August 11, 2013 in New York City. Franc Peri, Executive Producer of Roper Records, is equally legendary as a professional ballroom and theatrical dancer, teacher, and adjudicator. His popularity as a dancer in Cuba, among the professionals, won for him such titles as "the unwritten king of latin dancing" whose "execution of latin dances bears a great authenticity to their style of dancing." Also popular as an adjudicator, Franc has judged several national and international ballroom competitions including the 1964 World Championships at the World's Fair.
