Before coming together in 2014, longtime friends Jason Turner and Heather Evans had been writing and performing their own original songs for nearly a decade. Jason has written and recorded seven albums including the 2008 Indie Album of the Year, Lost At Sea, and Heather has also produced multiple albums, including For My Generation which featured several songs that appeared on the soundtrack to MTV's Laguna Beach. Eventually the prolific pair decided that writing songs together was much more fun than doing it alone and they formed the band Fine Citizens.
