Moving through different bands and influences, Al developed his own style of playing and writing. He, along with singer, Max Soulier, began to solidify the idea of The SunKings over the period of a few years by writing and recording a CD's worth of tracks, backed up by guest instrumentalists including the one time SunKings drummer, Craig Lacour. The project sat in the shadows however, as Max and Al (sometimes together, sometimes separately) progressed through several different bands. The time was never quite right... The complete fruition of The SunKings finally came about in early 2003. With the timing right for all involved, and as the final mastering for Al and Max's CD "The SunKings" was being completed, a definite face was finally put on their long time project when they, bassist Kevin Dawson, drummer Craig Lacour and keyboardist/guitarist Derek Roy came together for the official birth of The SunKings. Towards the middle of November Andrew Jarreau fulfilled his destiny by becoming the fulltime drummer for the SunKings, his very explosive energy has created a new force in The SunKings. He has put forth his strong ambition, dedication, and willingness to do whatever it takes to help progress this band. 2004 is upon us now as we are still evolving as a band. Derek Roy has left the band to pursue his career, look out NASA! The SunKings will continue as a four piece group for now. This will allow the band to concentrate on the new album and really get attuned with each individual's part in the band. The band still rock's on now as they continue to navigate through life's haze, looking for their place in the sun............... Info on each member:
