简介
For those who are unacquainted, Hermosa is a 100% original acoustic rock band. Their high energy live shows, teeming with improvisations and piercingly sharp musicianship have become the most exciting band you may not have heard in the Lynchburg music scene. Band members Cory Brammer, Chad Currie, Paul Hermosa, and Nate Vest don't do anything halfway, and the new project is no exception. They began recording their first full-length album in the winter with music industry veteran Jim Ure. Jim had been running sound for the band's live shows for several months and was more than happy to lend his expert ears to the sessions. They laid down the framework for 10 brand new songs and Chad and Nate had all but finished the drums and bass, respectively, when Jim landed a job that took him across the country and literally around the world. Left without a sound engineer or studio, the band turned to Unseen Sound Studio, where they had recorded a four song EP in the summer of 2003. Cory was able to pick right up where he left off on his lead guitar work. Paul sealed the deal by adding vocals and his unique acoustic guitar work. What resulted is an ambitious effort that soars well above even the band's highest expectations. The sheer diversity of the material on the album would be enough to please most bands. But the as-yet-untitled disc is brimming with jazzy melodies and thumping rhythms. The album deftly flows from soulful serenades to blazing instrumental excursions. The songs will no doubt inspire equal amounts of singing along and wide-mouth amazement. Catchy, yet earnest, the album represents a leap forward not only for the band, but for the Lynchburg music scene as well. While putting the finishing touches on the disc, the band felt the need to gear up for its release in proper fashion. Not just any venue would suffice for the unveiling of such an endeavor that had so much of the band's heart and soul poured into it. Then, fate intervened. Hermosa was invited to headline Ellington Fridays on November 25th. The Ellington, one of Central Virginia's premier live music venues, is the ideal location to stage the CD release party.
