简介
A mix of styles, sounds, instruments and genres..."Painted Pale" has GOT the LOT ! Like most of the other classic albums, "Painted Pale" takes you on a melodic journey filled with catchy pop lyrics, divine harmonies and some very unique instrumentation. The journey goes a little something like this; Don't Come Around - A catchy rock tune featuring floating, sparkly acoustic guitar, a mandolin and believe it or not, the magical sound of a kalimba. Day By Day - A unique writing style, heart-fealt vocal delivery and that beautiful acoustic guitar will have you melting in your chair. Favourite Songs - Doug's classic !...EVERYONE knows this one ! Lazy Sunday - If you can work out the genre this song fits into, you are a musical genius. There is nothing else quite like a Lazy Sunday. Shine - Sublime country / pop ballad that brings a tear to your eye every time you listen to it. That alluring acoustic guitar really shines through in this track and Doug delivers a faultless vocal performance. One of his best ! Run Away - Entices you into deep thought about eloping with that innocent love you found when you were sweet sixteen. Truly splendid ! Breathe - The jewel of "Painted Pale". Ghostly rock ballad with some fantastic guitar solos. Painted Pale - Throw in a hard rock track just for good measure. Classic Aussie angry rock tune. Lost My Knack - This song made it into the country charts for Doug during 2009. "Lost My Knack" was used in a drive time advertisement for the biggest country station in Brisbane. What an achievement. What a song ! Not Alive - Jaded Dido-ish pop ballad. Very different to most of Doug's music but the track finds its place on the album and takes you to another place entirely. Stylish track. Might be the dark horse in this release. Take Me Away - Classic torch song. Tells a story of a broken human being in need of some aid. Wonderful guitar solo smack bang in the middle of the track reminiscent of Knoffler in the BIA days. Dust Trails - Bringing back that country feel again. "Dust Trails" cements the underlying country theme within the album. One Of These Days - Close up vocals and THAT guitar once again. Bare and beautifuly acoustic. You can hear the Mullins influence in Doug's songwriting on this track. An unexpected last-track-gem ! You've read about the journey. You've had a taste of the music. Now click BUY !!!!
