Colucci was inspired to cover Burning Down the House by the talking heads while performing vocals for the song on the video game Rock Band on the Nintendo Wii. During the performance, he felt a connection to the song and realized it would be a perfect fit for his natural vocal style, to create a heavier rock/metal/rap infused version giving the song a modern twist of flavor for the ears. He enlisted the help of guitarist James Barerra to bring heavy and dark sounding riffs into play. Colucci performed the drums, bass, synth and vocals. He also produced, engineered and released the single via Converse Records his independent recording label after securing appropriate licensing in order to do so.
