In an era of Hip-Hop transformation, the story of Massachusetts native Connor Cassidy serves as a reminder that fresh perspectives are born from unconventional circumstances. Born on November 12th, 1995, Connor was raised on the outskirts of Boston, MA by his father and mother of Lebanese and Irish descent. At the age of 11-years-old, he was cast as a Broadway performer in the touring production of Evita, which would serve as his first real introduction to music performance. It wouldn't be until 5 years later that Hip-Hop music would even reach his ears. Inspired most heavily by J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, and Nasir Jones, Connor picked up his first mic at the age of 16 while attending Governors Academy on the north shore of Massachusetts. The initial attention he received as an artist came from freestyles and cypher battles at various parties and concert venues across New England, which culminated enough attention to land him as an opening performer for Los, Cory Gunz, and Machine Gun Kelly on various tour dates. Despite this, his dedication to academics remained intact. At the age of 18, after accepting a scholarship to the University of Miami, FL for Business Administration, he suffered a vocal injury that took him off-stage for what would end up being two and a half years. During this time of stagnation, Connor's mind was almost entirely reconstructed. Not being able to use his voice, he found himself spending more and more time alone and discovered newfound affinities for reading, meditation, bodybuilding, and philosophical writing. He also became the personal manager of close-friend and Hip-Hop powerhouse Kyle Bent. Having been heavily involved in party/festival culture for most his life, this change of lifestyle introduced new perspectives into his music and personality and greatly widened his understanding of the world. At the current age of 21 and just now being able to record and release his thoughts, Connor's debut single "Sun Goes Down" depicts the perspective he holds on his own mind-state as an artist, human being, and millennial. Looking forward, he sees the progression of his music as a constant re-evaluation of self, and as an ode to the unheard voices of his generation at such a pivotal point in our history.
