Jeremy Barnett born in Dumas, AR and raised in Little Rock, AR; collectively known as J Souf became a social and musical sensation over hard work and over the course of many years. As a lyrical artist of Hip Hop, music has always been essential in his character. He’s always had a talent for music at a young age while in school and throughout his childhood. He was once affiliated with a group formerly known as “BandBoyz” where his ideals in music became more serious. It wasn’t long when he realized his true love for his artistry and began to grow. He started off hosting shows that showcased local artists in Arkansas and along the way made a true name for himself. When J Souf released his very first solo mix tape “Sorry for the Intermission: Bedtime Stories” on March 28, 2014 at the Quarter Note Club (Now known as Club 428), his music career began to skyrocket. When his hit song “Juggin” hit the scene it was contagious and the opportunities in his music career started to sprout. One of his many goals is to prove that great music can come from all sorts of places and to put “Arkansas on the map”. J Souf’s performance skills are unlike any other. Not only do his lyrics catch the audience’s ear but his energy and urban dance skills are phenomenal. He gained his start at the Quarter Note Club and stays faithful to them and community by continuing to host and perform there. In the community, J Souf formerly attended Arkansas Baptist College and throughout his time he learned more about the music business. He volunteers at the college often with the band, music classes, and many other things. Loyalty; a crucial concept he lives by he decided to make Arkansas Baptist College his “home” recording studio by working with Turnpike; a creative professor at Arkansas Baptist College and the President of All Out Entertainment. Turnpike became a mentor to J Souf and has assisted in recording, video, and many other aspects of the entertainment industry. Throughout his busy schedule, he always makes room for his roots as a unique performer. At times, he is referred as “Mr. Quarter Note” because of his consistency with the club and its owners. No performance is ever the same with him as he makes each one memorable. He remains active and continues to perform throughout many cities in Arkansas and out of state. One year later, “Mr. Juggin’”, while perfecting his craft is still captivating audiences from his first mix tape as he continues to finish his second “Truthfully”. As he networks with all sorts of people connected to the entertainment industry J Souf gains new fans while doing what he lives to do. One can say that surely soon, he will reach his goal. J Souf will be the refreshing air of Arkansas. He is one true entertainer and aspiring artist and as he takes off, he will find his landing among the stars. Music isn’t made, it is born and he will be an icon. His ultimate goal; quoted from J Souf: “I want to be able to say that I made my dream come true or to at least show my daughter there’s nothing wrong with chasing her dream because one day they will come true, or for the rest of her life she will be cursed with the “What if.”
