"Midnight Drive" was recorded at historic Dreamland Studios in Woodstock, NY. This converted church with it's 60 foot ceilings, open spaces and state of the art recording equipment was the perfect place to record this emotional and multifaceted track. Producer Steve Dwire pulled together a who's who of legendary musicians including long time Peter Gabriel drummer Jerry Marotta, Harvey Jones (Sting & Chris Botti) on keyboards and synths, Bad Brains guitarist extraordinaire, Dr. Know and engineer Joe Blaney who has been behind the board tracking and mixing for a diverse spectrum of artist that include Prince, Tom Waitts and Keith Richards. Smiley takes us on late night ride, top down through the streets of Gotham, the music in total synch with the free flowing imagery. The first track from the just released "Gotham Empire Productions, Vol 1 The Smiley Sessions," Midnight Drive will rock you when listening in your car, at a club or in those late night, headphone moments and is one of those rare tracks that will excite and sooth at the same time.
