简介

Listening to this CD of sacred chants, with its fresh vocals and compelling cello arrangements,is for anyone wanting music that deeply resonates! Meditating as you listen and chant, as directed, (instructions are included), will give anyone an immediate experience: integrating body, mind, and soul. Susan Quaglia Brown was born into a family of singers, so it’s no surprise that she married the musician and singer/songwriter, Aaron T. Brown, who appears on the CD. She and Aaron live with her two sons, Sean and Evan, also musicians. Says Susan, “Our home is filled with dozens of musical instruments of all sorts, and since we are all visual artists as well, our house is like a living art/music studio. It’s great!” Regarding her collaboration with Allison, Susan smiles, “Recording ancient chants with her was such a joy! Allison is part of the family! Chanting, composing, editing, recording, cooking, laughing, gardening, and yoga, are all necessary for the work, and make-up the never-ending process of creating music that resonates with the most sacred aspects of our being.” Susan teaches Kundalini Yoga at her studio in New Hampshire; she also teaches yoga and art at the High Mowing School, in Wilton NH. Susan is known for making visual art, and site-specific public art installations using meditation as a spectacle. Allison Cekala, as a child, often complained of a sore throat only to find out from her doctor that she was singing "too much". Allison started playing piano at age 6, then quickly switched to the cello, the instrument that she studied classically through college. In college, Allison began improvising and performing alternatively, taking the cello outside the confines of the classical tradition and into self-expression and experimentation, a way of playing that Allison says, "Allows me to directly respond to vibrations of the instrument." Allison has recorded with indie-pop singer Dave End, among others, and was the singer in a hardcore punk band. Allison often refers to Susan as her "fairy-god-mother" because Allison feels she was miraculously guided to Susan, when Allison was living and working at the Kripalu Center in Lenox, MA. Allison practices yoga and meditation, enjoys photography, farming, traveling, and cooking. Allison teaches at Creative Trails, a non-profit day program for adults with cognitive disabilities in Portland, Maine. Working as an art teacher and gardening mentor, she considers this work part of her spiritual practice.
