Formed in 2010 in Silverdale, Washington, The Exchange has already gained a captive following throughout the Pacific Northwest due to their energetic performances and catchy, melodic pop/rock sound. Their 2011 debut EP “Show Me How To Love,” and most recent singles “Tell Me Your Story” and “Beautiful King” have been well received, landing national airplay on Air-1 and K-Life. The Exchange was featured as New Release Tuesday’s “Indie pick of the week,” and the group was a finalist in Seattle’s Spirit 105.3 Local Music Project in 2012. Their newest release, “The Exchange” EP, was recorded in the Lone Star State of Texas with producer Brooks Paschal, formally of Sullivan. The new EP picks up where SMHTL left off and continues to focus on the importance of having a personal connection with God. “There’s a huge disconnect with followers of Christ when it comes to actually having conversations with God,” Mikey Moore says. “Conversation is something we must have with Him if we’re going to actually see growth and change in our lives.” “The new EP is interesting because some of the songs were written over three years ago, some were written five months before we went into the studio, and one was practically written in the studio,” Britt Espinosa says. “When we compiled the songs for the EP, we found that they all had themes of wrestling with life's purpose and with God.” “These songs are also a celebration of the hope and new life we have in Christ,” Tyler Mays says. “One song that embodies this is ‘Brand New Day,’ which speaks to God's promise that His love is fresh and new every single day. ‘Feel It In Our Hearts’ describes crying out to God from the dark places we pass through as humans, and the longing so many of us have to wake up and feel Him near. ‘My Vision’ is all about perspective. Our plans and understanding are small and incomplete compared to God's master plan, and there often come points in our lives when we need to recognize that and surrender to Him in new ways.” Having played 250+ shows in their first three years, The Exchange is on track for a busy schedule in 2013, leaving the guys little time to be home with their family and loved ones. “We are all motivated by lots of things,” Moore says. “I believe the main reason we sacrifice our time away from home and our families is for the hurting people we meet at every show. People are desperately in need of a Savior who will actually take their hurts from them, and we want to show them that He really is here.” “We’ll spend several hours after each show talking to kids, signing stuff, and just listening to people talk about their lives. Even if we have to get up at six A.M. the next morning for an eight hour drive, we like to spend every moment we can getting to know people and investing in them,” Britt says. According to Mays, “people tell us stories of how a song spoke to them or helped them move closer to God. These moments are amazing because all we do is ask God to use us, play our music, and something beautiful can happen. We hope people will always be encouraged by the music, and that it will continue to give listeners a positive view of God and who He has made us to be.”
