San Angelo, Texas, is the only place I know where a person can walk into a bar or a beer joint (there is a difference) and find the broad demographics of the town equally represented. My first time in an Angelo watering hole I noticed an old cowboy, a Mexican ranch hand, a biker, and an Angelo State fraternity kid all sitting at the bar. One by one each man bought a round for the group and it wasn’t too long before a beer was sent in my direction. This marked the beginning of a fifteen-year plus love affair with that little town where the forks of the Concho River converge. This album was recorded on January 18th and 19th, 2008. It is intended to be listened to in its entirety, preferably while sharing a drink with good friends. During the recording we left disposable cameras on the tables and told those who attended the shows that they were in charge of the CD graphics. Some fans joined us on stage and sang along, not always in the right key, but with all the enthusiasm I have come to love and expect from San Angelo. The show ended Saturday night when a girl fell off a table and onto our stage, taking out half of our equipment. A barroom brawl, the likes of which I have never seen before or since, broke out shortly thereafter. The bar shut down; the brawlers shook hands and filed out the door; and we called it a night, confident in the knowledge that at the very least we had one more good story from the road.
