简介
We wrote this single because we were fed up that English national sports teams did not have an anthem that they could call their own. We wanted something catchy that people could sing along with easily that would rival Ireland's Call, Flower of Scotland, Land of My Fathers and the Haka. We wanted something that people could sing to lift their hearts both before and during events. It's not jingoistic. In fact we happen to believe that the world's big problems are best solved by people from all nations and groups coming together, communicating, getting to know each other, respecting each other and working together to deliver something that's bigger than their individual contributions. When it comes to sport though a bit of local or national pride is a good thing. We hope that you enjoy it. Here are the words to sing along (and if your team wears three lions on their shirt instead of a red rose, just sing "The three lions" instead of "The red rose" because that works too!): Intro & Chorus: The red rose of England The symbol of our land Worn proudly on our heart of oak Together we all stand A proud and ancient island race Defined by grit and steel And when the nation's call is heard It's all hands to the wheel. England, England Verse 1: Playing out of their skin Full of pride for the shirt they're in. Beautiful, green and pleasant land A thousand years we stand. Chorus Verse 2: Aching limbs, determined faces Shoulders bound, in all cases We'll not rest until we're done And the cause is won. Chorus England, England, England!
