by John BushHumantics comprises nine tracks of fast-moving techno that could be called straight-ahead if not for the obvious care that's been taken in making complex productions out of simple building blocks. Similar to his prior influences (Cristian Vogel, Neil Landstrumm), Twerk makes a basic techno track into something much more by layering his roster of left field effects, split second percussion samples, and melancholy synth over the four-four rhythms. The heavy dub influence of compatriots like Sutekh or Kit Clayton is only occasionally audible; for the most part, Twerk keeps his drum programs unprocessed, and the lack of echo or reverb keeps everything nice and precise.
