简介
Burn was the first song written on this album. I was going for that Michael Jackson dance groove. Lyrically it was written after watching 2 documentaries on fracking, one pro-fracking and one against. I dug around on the web to find out more on the pro-fracking doco and to no surprise it was funded by one of the big petrochemical company's ...pure rage naturally came out What It Takes is about is me questioning myself to be able to finishing things, following them through and fighting the devil on your shoulder saying 'don't worry about it, let it slide'. the song is taking some of my early influences from bands like P-funk/Bootsie Collins. I love the funk. Forget About Me is about a friend that push's the line of friendship to the point of you wanting to end it, but it ain’t that easy, feelings get in the way and time seems to force you to stay yet there's a part of you that just wants to run. Music wise this was heaps of fun to record as I love this sort of groove and it’s impossible to do solo. This was the first song recorded on my new guitar made from a Jerry can. Roller Coaster pulls out some of my traditional stomping rock/bluesy riffage. It’s about the constant ups and downs in life and with my journey there are many. It’s about trying to deal with them and finding a balance so you don't go crazy. Hold You Up is trying to help someone through sh*t. Positive, negative and balance. I loved exploring the soundscapes with this one, it has influences from old holler blues chain-gang songs and I tried to get a bit eerie/ambient with this one. Love No More explores a little reggae with a splash of blues. It’s about a friends battle with that horrible disease called divorce. Trying to shine a light or a path but it’s hard to see when your blinded by strong emotions 241 is all out hillbilly disco dancing fun really. It’s about when a supermarket has something on sale like chocolate and you get 2 for the price of 1. One part of me is going “buy it, it’s a bargain” and the other is “don't be stupid it’s going to make you fat...” Talk to the Hand is one of my favourites for sure, it’s got that heavy slow bang your head groove that always appeals to me. I wrote it watching Q & A on the ABC....may favourite program btw. It’s basically about dumb a** pollies that choose not to answer the question they are asked and just pass the buck and blame the other side for their incompetence...it happens so much I wonder do they do anything at all in Parliament? Road Rage is the instrumental song on the album. I wrote it to give the voice a break, had a bunch of riffs that needed to go on and this came together really fast actually Winner is the upside of the Roller Coaster, the cream on the cake. The feel good song, there's a bit of “yee-haa!” going on Running is something a bit different from the rest of the album musically, there's a lot of energy there and was written as a pick me up song, it’s more about chasing the good times and hanging onto them. Never Say Goodbye is purely a love song. In life's Roller Coaster there ain't no ride without love, we all want and need it in some way or form.
