"it all started on the front porch" Wurtland, Ky is a small town located within the Ohio River Valley; close to regions of country greats such as The Judds, Patty Loveless, Ricky Scaggs and Keith Whitley. The area is so well known for its talent that the main interstate, US 23, is known as the country music highway. Growing up on a small farm, it was Jesus and George Jones that influenced Carter Burks to write... "As a child I just felt different, other kids wanted to play and I just wanted to write, I'd carry this notebook around and keep my ideas in there, my first song came to me when I was about 12." Since then Carter has written over 300 tunes which range from straight up honkytonk to ballads like "WHISPER". Alan Jackson once said..."You know that song who's gonna fill their shoes, don't know if I can fill 'em but I'd sure like to try them on".... Growing up in New Jersey, when and where country was not cool, it was not easy for Nils Bean but it never got in the way of his love of the South and his southern roots in Tennessee and Mississippi. From a young age, his visits to the South influenced him and instilled the values his mother and grandparents grew up with and exposed him to the likes of Johnny Cash, Hank Williams Sr. and Jr., Micky Gilley, George Jones, Alabama, and so many more. He'll never forget the time he gave a speech on his favorite band in music class, Alabama. No one in his class had ever heard of them. They were all wrapped up in 80's pop. It did not add to his popularity to say the least but did enlighten a few. It's that love, passion, and destiny that led him along a path that merged with Carter Burks and has resulted in some beautiful and soulful country songs.
