简介
Moe Jones artfully crafts songs that don't just tell stories, create images, and evoke memories, but also remind you to have a rockin' GOOD TIME 'cause life is too short for anything else! Their songs are all original, steeped in earthiness, and span an encyclopedia of subjects. Moe Jones has successfully blended rock, pop, jazz, blues, and folk styles into rich musical textures, creating a fresh smorgasbourd of sound. In true indie style, Moe Jones has separated from the pack of cookie-cutter mainstream bands. They have been described as Steely Dan meets Squirrel Nut Zippers, Huey Lewis & The News, Annie Lennox, Gracie Slick, and Peter, Paul & Mary performing with John Fahey at a Star Trek convention! Fitting into a category is not high on their list of priorities, but it is the refreshing uniqueness of their style that keeps their fans coming back for more, saying, "Finally, sane music!". Moe Jones epitomizes the uncompromisingly independent spirit of today's underground music scene. Moe Jones is comprised of David Coleman (keyboards, guitar, vocals), Doug Forsyth (drums, vocals), Michelle Holmes (bass, lead vocals), and Steve Pinkney (lead guitar, vocals). With years of individual training and performing experience behind them, they came together as Moe Jones in 1999, regularly performing in Los Angeles clubs ever since. And in December of 2001, Moe Jones was the Los Angeles winner of the Hard Rock Cafe's "12 Bands of Christmas" competition, sponsored by Hard Rock Cafe, Garageband Records, and Samuel Adams and was voted Top 5 nationwide! AND, here are some reviews: "Moe Jones' dexterity with delicate musical textures is a plus, and neatly separates them from the pack. When this quartet emphasizes the literate lyricism of their songs, and mirrors the riveting vocal delivery of their singer, they have something vital to say." - Dan Kimpel, Sunset Strip Radio.com "Moe Jones took the stage, a straight ahead rock n' roll band with a great handle of their dynamics and a maturity in their sound, surpassed only by their comfort on the stage. The songs are fun, light hearted with a playful edge. Vocalist / Bassist, Michelle Holmes has a very sultry appeal to her voice that cuts right through the music, grabbing your attention..." - The LA Music Scene.com "...I really don't ever play anything I don't feel good about, which is a huge treat for me, in this age of mass-programmed all-the-same commercial radio. So, given that, as I say, it is I who should be thanking you, for making music I like, and sharing it, to boot... I really like that the CD is so diverse, and I think it does a good job of showing your range. " - Susanne Millsaps, KRCL 90.9 FM, Salt Lake City "...thank you for your music... i got a greater than usual reaction regarding moe jones..." - Kelly Cox, KLOS 95.5 FM, Los Angeles "Moe Jones' ... cheeky single, '(A) Cup of Joe,' is an absolute winner, like Steely Dan backing the Squirrel Nut Zippers." - Tony Peyser, Santa Monica Mirror "Listen to this. Musicians I envy." - listener on Garageband.com
