简介
Intelligent and energetic with more than a hint of danger, Alex Watts & the Foreign Tongue trade in songwriter-driven pop music, owing much to the likes of Elvis Costello, Nick Lowe and The Clash. The Melbourne quartet's profile rose dramatically following the release of their critically successful single 'This Haunting' in mid-2012, which received national rotation, the song and it's film clip being featured on taste-making music blogs both at home and in the US and UK. The band spent the latter half of 2012 touring, performing in some of Australia's best venues, such as Melbourne's Cherry Bar and Sydney's FBi Social, helping to cement their reputation as one of the country's most exciting live acts. The new single Warned is the second released installment of the song cycle which will make up the band's debut longplayer, and captures a group in full flight, with a little help from a horn section borrowed from The Australian Ska Orchestra. Whereas This Haunting took place at the end of the song cycle, Warned occurs earlier, and is a portrait of a married man, drunkenly serenading a prostitute in the early hours of the morning.
