简介
Reina Mystique has taken the independent music scene by storm. Striving to be more than just a cookie cutter r&b singer, Reina Mystique’s debut album fuses jazz, dance, acoustic, r&b, and pop into an eclectic LP that is primed to be one of the greatest debut albums from an independent artist, ever. Reina’s first encounter with the music industry came when she was just 9 years old. While living with her family in a homeless shelter, Reina was given the opportunity to record on an album called “Voice of the Homeless,” distributed by MCA records. She was one of 27 homeless people chosen out of over 500 who auditioned to be a part of the album. It was that experience that solidified her drive to succeed in the music business. Now 15 years after being in the studio for the first time, Reina Mystique returns with her first full length solo album “25.” While Reina Mystique was younger she performed all over San Diego. She was called upon several times by the former councilman George Stevens to sing at various events around town including the groundbreaking of the Malcolm X Library. After graduating from the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts in 2001, Reina went on to Grossmont Community College before transferring to Seattle Pacific University where she majored in music. It took three years for Reina Mystique to finally finish her debut album. While working on this album Reina collaborated with many artists from genres ranging from jazz to hip hop, and has learned more about herself and her music from each individual.
