简介
John Lowell has been a major contributor to the national acoustic and bluegrass music scene for 30 years. A flatpicking master, his guitar work has graced CD's for Kane's River, Growling Old Men, the Creekwalkers, Fishing Music 1 and 2, and dozens more. He has taught at the premiere Sore Fingers Camp in the UK, the British Columbia Bluegrass Workshop and the Grand Targhee Bluegrass camp. His clear baritone is instantly recognizable and has been featured on CD's for Wheel Hoss, Heather Bristow, Larry Gangi, Loose Ties, Jim Schultz, and the aforementioned Kane's River, Growling Old Men, Creekwalkers and Fishing Music 1 and 2. His vocal workshop at Sore Fingers sold out. His songwriting skills are also without compare. His original songs help propel the bands he has been a part of to national recognition, with performances on countless festival stages throughout the world as well as Prairie Home Companion and a television special on Montana PBS. His composition "Sarah Hogan" has been recorded by 14 other artists including Bryan Bowers, Valerie Smith and Bluegrass, Etc. John Lowell has released "I Am Going To The West," his first ever solo recording. Combining his skills as a flatpicking master, a vocalist and featuring 7 original songs, this collection highlights the triple threat that is John Lowell. Flatpicking Magazine editor Dan Miller says of Lowell's new release, "Bluegrass guitar players, who are usually supported by a whole band, are not always comfortable playing in a solo setting. John is able to pull it off masterfully here on this recording."
