The Beartones were conceptualized in 2000 under the frameworks of musical excellence, brotherhood and just having a good time. For more than a decade the Beartones have consistently thrilled audiences of all shapes and sizes. The group is renowned for their “polished” and “memorable” sets while racking up numerous notable performances across the country, including Kansas City, St. Louis, Chicago, and New York City. The 2013-2014 school proved to be a HUGE milestone for this talented group of guys! The Beartones just recently placed Third Place in the Midwest Semi-Final round of the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA). This remarkably makes BTZ one of the top three collegiate a cappella groups in the entire Midwest! Along with third place, fellow BTZ, Ryan Starks took home an award for “Best Arrangement” for his arrangement of “Say Something”. The Beartones ALSO received a nomination AND runner-up for a Contemporary A Cappella Recording Award (CARA) for “Best Scholastic Original Song” for the song “Alone” written by their own member, Andrew Kennedy. The CARA’s are considerably the Grammy’s of contemporary A Cappella.
