Read the Saint Paul Pioneer Press (MN) review of droplet: Hear Now: droplet http://www.twincities.com/mld/twincities/entertainment/4859565.htm "On the face of the earth is one of the best albums anyone ever brought in to our studio." -- Bobby Z, Grammy Award-winning drummer of Prince & the Revolution, and founder of Echo Bay studios, where the album was mastered. droplet is a Twin Cities based pop-rock band fronted by singer-songwriter Chrissy Mitchell. The last several years have seen Chrissy's musical journey develop from intimate solo performances on the coffee bar circuit to droplet's full band shows, rocking some of the med-sized venues in the Twin Cities. Chrissy's 1998 debut CD, Blue Falls, attracted the attention of several local stations, with airplay on KFAI 90.3 FM's Lee Combes Show, KQRS 92.5 FM's Mei Young's Homegrown Show, and The Point 104.1FM. Minnesota's Guitarist magazine described Blue Falls as: "filled with intricate guitar work and cutting lyrics... impressive in its complexity" with the Twin Cities Review describing Chrissy as: "one of the most captivating voices around... catch [her] now so in the future you can impress your friends by saying, 'You know, I actually saw her in a coffeehouse back in the 90's'." The genre "pop-rock" doesn't really begin to capture the variety of musicial influences that droplet's members have woven into the richly-varied songs and powerful performances that set apart the coming Fall 2001 CD -- from Neil Young, the Rolling Stones, and Blondie, to Dead Can Dance, the Beach Boys, and Hindustani classical music. From epic songs like Soul Journey that leave you shouting for more, to light-hearted rockers such as I Love You More Than Alcohol, droplet's live shows are an enjoyable mix of catchy tunes and driving beats that highlight Chrissy's well-crafted lyrics. droplet's name comes from the chorus of the band's instantly-appealing theme tune, More Than Everything, an 80s-rockabilly-surf anthem that tackles the smallness of human beings in the face of nature with a good dose of irony: The thunder echoed your vision The rain altered the illusion The wind ripped through your stare Your paper thoughts fly everywhere, everywhere But you are here -- just a droplet on the face of this earth. Here -- just a droplet on the shore of your birth And you drop too... Coming in 2002, On the face of the earth, droplet's 11-track debut album featuring Chrissy Mitchell, Greg Lyon, Troy Berg, and Greg Herriges, with guest appearances by Angela Orluck, Teena Deaton, Nigel Parry, Andy O'Kelly, and Eric Mitchell. "On the face of the earth? I like its style!" -- Micah McFarlane, tour manager of Billboard Top Ten band Lifehouse, Michelle Branch.
