Version City Vault is a collection of little-known, rare tracks from the early days of King Django's Version City Studio in the Lower East Side of New York City. Featuring all of the usual Stubborn suspects-- Django, Rocker T, Victor Rice, Agent Jay and Victor Ruggiero of the Slackers-- and a host of mysterious guest artists, this is a snapshot of the dirty, gritty, underground NYC ska scene in the mid to late 1990's.

Version City was a hotbed of activity from its inception-- a cradle of the ska/reggae scene which was to burst forth from NYC at the end of the last decade of the millenium. Take a taste of the rich, rootsy rocksteady and reggae, hard-edged soul, bouncy, fun ska and spacey dub on offer here, in an early, unguarded, spontaneous style-- a precursor of the continuous musical banquet which Version City and Stubborn Records have continually been serving right through to the present day.
