简介
Death of The King is a two-fold meaning. First, I'm doing away with the no-fi, opting for a more cohesive sound. Sure, it's still a bit on the lo-fi side, but that's intentional. I'm not where I want to be, but I'm getting there mentally--so I figure "why not" with regards to showcasing that on this album. Secondly, this trilogy, the "Songs For..." trilogy, it's been about finding oneself in the midst of an identity crisis. In the beginning of the trilogy, I was living a lie, that everything was fine and that the "No-Fi King" was all that I was. I was also dealing with mental illnesses that were going untreated and misdiagnosed. As time went on, and I matured, I grew out of just being the "No-Fi King." I also was forced to seek help for my problems. So, to kill the "King," I'm saying that I'm doing away with the gimmicks, the foolishness, and I'm letting my true story be told. It's pretty intense, considering all that's gone into the twenty-six (thus far) years of my life, but it's honest and introspective. Plus, it's good music, albeit a bit "lo-fi" in production/mixing styles. If you're used to super crisp, perfect songs about things NOT related to bipolar disorder and mental health awareness, I still'd like you to check this out. But, I can understand why you may pass on it. The story of the album is laid out in somewhat chronological order, but plays out in segments, a la Kendrick Lamar's Good Kid, M.a.a.D City album. While the album is more cohesive than previous efforts, it still is one of my most conceptualized albums. Seeing that Kendrick and Big K.R.I.T. are two of my influences, musically, it's no surprise that I'd utilize their story-telling techniques, while still implementing my own twists on them.
