简介
The song ends. Sometimes they look to each other, sometimes to their feet, sometimes they even laugh a little. A group of women who seem to almost be surprised when they open their eyes and see people watching, listening. They seem to be surprised that they aren't hitting their heads on the attic ceiling playing only to each other, for each other. They seem to keep asking the question, how did we get here? Although they haven't been playing together long, they've got quite a few shows under their belt ranging from college coffee houses to main stage at Detroit Pride. One of the most rewarding experiences they had in 2004 was the concert series they did for voter registration. The passion these women have for music is obvious in their performance so it is no surprise that they are the same way when it comes to social issues. They have struck a wonderful balance between what the song writing process does for them personally and what it can do support events like a Planned Parenthood benefit or to convince one more person to vote and let their voice be heard. They have recently expanded their touring throughout Michigan and the surrounding states. They have been fortunate to share a stage with many artists they admire including Sista Otis, Kate Peterson, and Chris Pureka. The most current development for Lazy Sunday is the release of their first full length album, Empty Song Space. Recording the album proved to be an invaluable learning experience. They were able to experiment with new instruments and sounds, bringing their music to a different level of artistry. The result is an aching and honest reflection of both political and emotional heartbreak. Presently, Lazy Sunday is getting prepared for a busy spring and summer. Unsure of what the future will bring, they focus on this moment. They appreciate how lucky they are for every little up and down, every note that passes through their fingers, their lips. Four women, as diverse as their influences, come together to create a fierce sound and an open atmosphere for all to enjoy. Because that is what it's all about. A lazy Sunday is any day that you wake up, not to an alarm, but because the sunlight has soaked through your eyelids. And you get out of bed owing nothing to the day except an open heart and mind...and maybe a little music.
