简介
"All works are masterfully defended (...) works of transcendent virtuosity sounding naturally 'easy' with the complete technical mastery of a unique musician." Sérgio Azevedo, in Politecnia "CD Nuno Pinto - Clarinete Solo, collection of portuguese contemporary works that explore the potential of the instrument with high-level interpretations." Cristina Fernandes, in Jornal Público "The technical arsenal of Nuno Pinto is unquestionable: on the level of major international virtuosos of the instrument." Bernardo Mariano, in Notícias Sábado The isolation in which the country found itself, in the field of music, alongside the lack of openness to other countries, during the decades of the 30s and 50s, delayed changes in the area of solo composition, which only saw a new impulse emerge in the 70s of the twentieth century. This new impulse allowed composers to experience an unmistakable breach with the previous musical language. The composers’ relentless search associated to a new musical dynamics created by a closer relationship with the interpreters allowed new sounds and musical grammars to be introduced, providing Portuguese music with a wide-ranging catalogue of musical compositions, namely for the clarinet. On the other hand, and as stated by George Steiner, one cannot ignore that the creative effort of a composer is, more often than not, based on the interpreter. Nuno Pinto left a testimony and a register of a vast repertoire for the clarinet, with written works from 1985 to 2008, which does not distance it self substantially from the musical production of our time.
