London), David Ord on programming (b. Aberdeen) and Che Beresford on drums (b. Cornwall). Their new album showcases the solo writing talent of Ornette D. Clennon and is called DR O's LITTLE SONGBOOK. Known to friends as The Voice, Clennon is an accomplished classical musician with a rich musical heritage. Raised in Manchester during the funk-filled '70s and the experimental '80s, he completed his classical training in the '90s while consuming a daily musical diet of classical, soul, jazz, house, rap and world music. This experience left a lasting impression on Clennon, who left Manchester to further his academic career. Armed with a Ph.D., Clennon returned to the city he calls home, having spent time honing his craft in London, Edinburgh and The Hague. During his time in London, Clennon recorded a groundbreaking album at the legendary Soul II Soul Studios. This album, the blueprint for the Revelation Kollektiv sound, is built upon Clennon's diverse musical heritage and showcases his powerful, versatile and dynamic vocals. With MAW, Jamie Lidell, Koop, Portishead and Jazzanova as musical reference points, Clennon, Ord and Beresford are driven by their passion to produce highly innovate and highly listenable music. In keeping with Clennon's love of all things musical, Revelation Kollektiv's music is an eclectic blend of influences, spanning disco, funk, northern soul, classical and jazz. It combines traditional instrumentation and influences with electronic rhythms and technology, and features a host of samples that reflects their rich musical heritage. Ord, a straight-talking and no-nonsense Scot, is the cowriter (with Clennon) behind the Revelation Kollektiv. Ord has a fondness for the sounds of retro northern soul, which he lovingly and skillfully combines with full-on jazz-funk bass lines with Beresford's banging and infectious drumming to create the perfect soundscape for Clennon's scintillating vocals.
