The sparse musical arrangement (one guitar, one vocal; no overdubs), echoes the sparse lyrics, which attempt to set a mood, rather than tell a detailed story. Paper Dolls and Fire Engines won Second Place in the America Songwriter Lyrics Contest in the January/February 2016 issue of American Songwriter magazine.
