简介
Inspired by Haruki Murakami’s book of the same name, DANCE. DANCE. DANCE. sees flica taking the same journey as the protagonist of the book. Just as the unnamed hero of the book felt abandonment before finally relieving himself of the feeling of alienation by establishing human connection, flica’s musical sojourn strips himself of his rigid song structure by crafting something that reveals itself as, well, danceable. At 23 minutes long, it begins in a typical flica disposition – moody, atmospheric, melancholic, lost – before slowly unravelling itself in a catharsis of involuntary body movements via aural triggers, then ending in a symbiosis of ambience and dance. It is not the happy record – or novel – the name would suggest, but neither is it the opposite of that. DANCE. DANCE. DANCE. is as relatable and danceable as it is emotionally taxing – and not always of the dejected sort. A little joyous, a little revelatory, a little forlorn, flica composes 1s and 0s-borne music that musters emotions organically, as complex as human interaction can be. So listen and dance, dance, dance, regardless of what you are feeling.
