The Linemen are fronted by four gentlemen, all singer-songwriters of note, who have in the past all been recording artists in their own right, including: Kevin Johnson (formerly of Kevin Johnson and the Linemen), Jonathan Gregg (Jonathan Gregg and the Lonesome Debonaires, Runner of the Woods, Roger McGuinn), Scott McKnight (Last Train Home, Jelly Roll Mortals), Bill Williams (Last Train Home, Jelly Roll Mortals), and noted drummer and percussionist Antoine Sanfuentes.

The Linemen's legacy goes back to the late 1980s, with a dozen records' worth of material that has gained props from No Depression and the Washington Post, and gained favorable comparisons to Marshall Crenshaw, NRBQ, Freedy Johnston, and Steve Earle.
