Making this, my third album with Boris Garcia, has been a highlight of the year for me. The band's two songwriters, Jeff Otto and Bob Stirner, are unique unto themselves, and the presence of these two sui generis writers is what makes this band so special. Like Lennon and McCartney did for the Beatles, they add just the right shadings to each other's compositions to make the picture complete. And the sound of Boris Garcia is totally their own. With the addition of Tim Kelly and EJ Simpson on drums and bass, along with the always stellar playing of multi-instrumentalist Bud Burroughs, Around Some Corner is a great journey for the listener and the band's best record to date.
