The Rockin' Johnny Band's latest independent release "More Real Folk Blues" was recorded live at Chicago's intimate club B.L.U.E.S. on Halsted. This CD features Rockin' Johnny's trademark incisive, true-Chicago style guitar playing that marked his first two releases on the Delmark label. This band shines in front of a crowd and you can feel the excitement when you listen to this recording. Also featured as a special guest is Howlin Wolf's longtime saxman/bandleader Eddie Shaw. This CD is a blues guitar lovers dream with songs in the style of Earl Hooker, Magic Sam, Hip Linkchain, and Jimmy Dawkins. “Johnny is a superb guitarist who plays much in the same way as the great Earl Hooker was around 1962, or like a young Buddy Guyâ€.
