简介
Cody Pueo Pata is an award-winning singer, composer, musician, dancer, chanter and kumu hula (hula teacher). His talents first came to public attention when he won the Frank B. Shaner Falsetto Contest in 1999. Those talents have been honed and refined in the intervening years as he performed in hula and cultural events throughout the Hawaiian Islands, continental U.S., and Japan. His first cd release, E Ho`i Na Wai, garnered prestigious Na Hoku Hanohano Award nominations for Most Promising New Artist and Best Hawaiian Language Performance as well as naming Pueo as a finalist in the Haku Mele (songwriter) category. He answers his fans with this, his second solo release, He Aloha . . . Whether a classic Hawaiian song from a century ago or his newest composition, Pueo's approach as a performer or composer reflects his exquisite attention to Hawaiian musical traditions while adeptly expressing himself with a dramatically detailed, fresh and heart-felt style. The result brings his music full circle so that what was once considered traditional has again become contemporary. From this album, Pueo won the prestigious composer's award for "Mili`opua," as well as being a finalist in several other categories, at the 2008 Na Hoku Hanohano Awards contest.
