Introducing IWARI IWARI (pronounced EE-WAH-REE) has always been open minded and adventurous. IWARI is also a survivor. Defying the odds dealt to him by a devastating illness at age 9, he is motivated to live life to the fullest; always trying new things. Last December (2010) IWARI graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in mechanical engineering. At USC IWARI kept himself involved with music as an outstanding member of the Spirit of Troy. While searching for that perfect job, he found himself focusing on his passion for rap music while chilling with his Super Smash Crew. IWARI writes and composes music in addition to being a skilled saxophonist. IWARI’s love for music found expression when he began playing violin in second grade. From the violin, he taught himself to play basic piano, guitar, and brass instruments before settling on the saxophone at age 12. IWARI’s first introduction to rap music was 2pac’s “all eyes on me” at the young age of seven. Since then he has explored many different areas of hip hop; noting that in addition to 2pac, Busta Rhymes, Ludacris, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, and the St. Lunatics are his major inspirations. Outside of rap Michael Jackson and Ray Charles (RIP) are his favorite artists. IWARI has never discriminated musically and is open to all new genres of music. He constantly educates himself musically through festivals and the local Los Angeles music scene. IWARI’s background is unique because he is equally influenced by the three major cities he grew up in. IWARI was born in St. Louis, MO while living in New York City and Los Angeles. So when it comes to claiming -- IWARI has spent more time in New York City than in St. Louis or Los Angeles where he now lives. He feels the musical influence of Harlem’s urban flavor, the Midwest’s blues, jazz and swing, and the west coast’s swagga has given him a unique voice . Blending these influences into what he calls “real ni**a rhythms” motivates him to put a new spin on his west coast lifestyle, create new music and begin to spit.
