Muted Trax 5th Anniversary Collection, Volume 1
简介
"To say that the Indie dance music market is a crowded, over-saturated, overwhelming muddle of players is an understatement. With the advent of digital media and social media for that matter, it seems there's a new Indie label popping up every other week. These days one has to only open his or her laptop and create a logo (and a well-liked track of course) and bam...you can start your own label. But hit songs notwithstanding, probably the most important ingredient in running this little operation would be consistency which leads to longevity. Sure it's relatively easy to start an Indie label these days, but maintaining it has never been more difficult. The level of competition has never been more fierce and with the amount of releases and media outlets to purchase them from, it's hard not to get lost in the shuffle. Which brings us to Muted Trax, a New York-based, homegrown house label that's been quietly doing their thing for the last five years, no small feat in this financially challenged environment. Created and run by label head, producer, DJ and New York homeboy Mike Dominico along with partner Shawn Christopher, Muted has managed to stay just above the fray and carve out its own little niche into the house music playing field. To hear Dominico say it "The original objective of the label was simply to release house music that I was feeling...deep, soulful, hard...whatever." We would also add "good." Five years is a long time for an independently run label to last and Muted decided it was high time to celebrate that accomplishment with Muted Trax 5th Anniversary Collection Volume 1. The first of a two-volume set that showcases some of the label's more memorable releases. Highlighted in this most essential collection is Muted Soul feat Jess King's "Cause I'm A Woman" and "I Can Be" along with Mike Dominico's "Touch" and "Body Bangin'" and The D.MD Project's "Play." 12 tracks in all round this set and show why consistency is the real ingredient for success in the dance music market." -Phil Turnipseed (DJ Times Magazine)
