简介
Dust Bowl Faeries is an ethereal gothic-folk band with a dark cabaret twist. The band was founded by artist-musician Ryder Cooley in 2013. Ryder is accompanied by Karen Cole, Jen DuBois, and JoAnn Stevelos. Former band member Sara Ayers reunited with the group to record this album. Hazel, a taxidermy sheep, performs with the Dust Bowl Faeries as mascot spirit animal/go-go dancer. The unique compositions of Dust Bowl Faeries have roots in Gypsy, klezmer, and vaudeville music. Accordion, singing saw, ukulele, lap-steel, electric guitar and percussion combine to create the Dust Bowl Faeries' otherworldly sound. "Dust Bowl Faeries" was produced by Seth Rogovoy and recorded in New York's Hudson Valley by Bobby Previte and Tommy Stinson. The album was edited, mixed and mastered by Rachel Alina at her Hudson/Allen Street Studio. The Field was co-written by Ryder & Alicia McCarthy with Stormy Knight and the band Corner Tour. All other songs were written by Ryder Cooley. Ryder plays accordion, 6-string ukulele and singing saw. She is joined by Karen Cole on lap steel and vocals, JoAnn Stevelos on percussion, and Jen DuBois on electric guitar and vocals. Sara Ayers, one of the original members of the Dust Bowl Faeries, recorded keyboards and vocal harmonies on the album. The recording also includes contributions from a stunning array of guest musicians, including Tommy Stinson of the Replacements, Melora Creager of Rasputina, Pete Toigo, Fredo Viola, Luis Mojica, Elric Walker, Cameron Melville, and Seth Rogovoy.
