简介
After 20 years out of print, the second album (and major label debut) of Cara Jones will become available worldwide for the first time this year. Originally recorded in the spring of 1996 in Dublin and Tokyo, the album "Pandora's Box" received critical acclaim and national radio airplay, as well as placements in commercials such as Fujitsu computers. Remixed by Spanish producer Juan de Dios Martin and remastered for digital distribution, the album has taken on a timeless sound. The Buzz (from 1996)... Musical Discoveries: The slow and evocative melody of "Heads Or Tails" is carried by Cara's sensual lead and backing vocal work. Vocally, [Pandora’s Box] is even stronger than [first album] Different Skies, in style, crystalline quality and production. The album's tracks tend to revolve around the ballad style, gently rocking at times or drifting into folky themes. Cara's second album is a wonderful blend of acoustic and lighter instrumental styles further illustrating her vocal virtuosity. Clearly worth a cross country journey for further exploration, we believe it is a “must listen”. Virgin Megastore's Recommendation "This is an album to relax to and enjoy on a day off - perfect for the autumn is this female vocalist. Popular among our customers, Pandora's Box is featured in the listening stations of our recently renovated Shinjuku branch." Virgin Megastore's Begin Journal: Clear as the air that soars high above the sky, the voice of Cara Jones envelopes the listener and soothes the soul with its soft reverberation. So what is the secret ingredient in this, her 2nd album "Pandora's Box"? "We weren't trying to make a specific kind of album, genre-wise. I wanted to make honest music, and genre is an artificial divider. Personally, I've listened to and loved music from all over and this, I suppose, is simply the result. But I have always been drawn to an acoustic sound, and I'm very interested in beautiful melody." Yomiuri Newspaper: Well-known FM radio personality Cara Jones celebrates the release of her second album, Pandora's Box (Teichiku Records) with a concert at Cay in Minami-Aoyama, Tokyo, on December 21st. The American-born musician came to Japan five years ago. While maintaining a regular spot on 81.3 FM J-Wave as well as other stations, she released her first album, Different Skies, in 1994, making her official debut as a singer. The new album, also all in English, begins with "Wood And Strings", a song recently heard on television in a commercial for Fujitsu computers. It sets the tone for the album's sound -- a warm, acoustic-based sound with sweet vocals that reach out and talk to you. "I was trying to make an album that was relaxing to listen to and somehow made you feel like you were in the middle of a beautiful, natural setting. I'd truly rather one person really listen and enjoy the music than hundreds hear it but don't listen. Music should feel like a friend." TONY VISCONTI, producer: "She's powerful. Her music conveys strong feelings, strong messages, gossamer textures” GORO NAKAGAWA, music critic and writer: "Each time you listen to the music of Cara Jones, you see another color - her songs are like prisms..." TICKET (Montgomery County, PA): ”Ethereal yet earthy, accessible yet always on the move - the angel-voiced darling of Japanese radio." TV GUIDE Recommendation: "Lush vocals and a haunting yet stirring sound that seems to cleanse the soul."
