简介
Swedish-born Andy Salvanos is a former session bassist whose career began in Los Angeles and culminated in performing with Archie Roach on "The Tracker" soundtrack. Since 2007 Andy has gained attention as an exponent of the Chapman Stick; an instrument which combines elements of guitar, bass and tuned percussion. He has performed at the Adelaide International Guitar Festival and National Folk Festival, collaborated with the Graduate Singers Choir and supported Canadian singer Jane Siberry. He is also one of Australia's most recognised street performers, and has been featured by Australian Music Forum, ABC Radio (SA & NT), Merge press, Stick Enterprises, The Australian, and Just Plain Folks. A prolific writer and improviser, Andy considers most of his material "work in progress". His recordings include "Fragments" and "Closer" from 2007, and the experimental new release "Morn's landing". In 2009, "Closer" was nominated for the JPF Awards "Best Solo Instrumental Album" which finished second in the voting behind Jeff Schmidt's "Outre". FRAGMENTS (Feb 2007): Features solo instrumental "new folk", improvisations and some pieces using loops and electronic drums.
