There is nothing like sharing music with others. Whether you’re playing, singing or listening, a spell is cast by the sonic frequencies and intention in the song and everyone participating in the experience ends up woven together this way. There is so much separation inherent in the human experience and togetherness as it occurs in the context of music is nourishing for the whole being. My approach to music prioritizes connections ~ with each other, with the land and with what fills the space around and between us, that breath of life given so many names from the Majesty to the Great Spirit. I aspire to create a space with voice and guitar that allows listeners to be with the truth of their experience, to feel what they feel while held in a cocoon of sound. The songs that comprise “The Other Ocean” are rendered from my own experience of transitioning to a new place both physically and energetically. They include the grieving of what’s lost, the integration of lessons along the way and the celebration of the harmony and beauty that come after significant inner work has been done. I have emerged from these two years of west coast medicine with a deep reverence for “the power of change” (light feet) and a wish that anyone and everyone feel empowered to transform their lives in a positive way.
